CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS OF AN ORIGINAL SONG – to be played on stage with Michael Bernard Fitzgerald on Festival Friday
Do you have an original song that you would like to perform on stage at the Canmore Folk Music Festival, with Michael Bernard Fitzgerald and his band?
We are looking for local songwriters from Lake Louise, Banff, Canmore, Exshaw and Morley to submit original songs for consideration. Several songs will be selected for performance on stage with MBF and his band at the festival Friday concert at Centennial Park, live broadcast on CKUA. Chosen song-writers will rehearse their songs with the band before Festival Friday in preparation for the stage show on August 2nd.
If you have a song that you would like to submit but you do not want to play on stage, that’s OK too. Songs will be considered whether or not you would like to play on stage with the band.
Please email your song by July 1, 2019 to: email@example.com
Put Songwriter Workshop in the subject box.
Submissions can be by cellphone video/audio clip, mp3, standard recording, or however you can get us a recording of your song.
Michael Bernard Fitzgerald (MBF) is a songwriter from Calgary. A touring troubadour, most of his time is spent on stage playing clubs, theatres and festivals across North America. MBF has shared the stage and toured with Joel Plaskett, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Steve Winwood, Third Eye Blind, Sam Roberts, Stars, K-OS, The Wallflowers, Elliott Brood, Lights and many more. He’s also played Canmore Folk Festival, Firefly Festival, Mountain Jam, Calgary Folk Music Festival, X Fest, Virgin Fest, Winnipeg Folk Festival The Calgary Stampede and Capital Ex.
He has twice sold out the 1,700-seat Jack Singer Concert Hall. Both shows were grandiose affairs that featured a live band of up to 250 musicians. He loves getting musicians together. Michael Bernard Fitzgerald “MBF” has a simple goal – to pursue his craft as honestly as possible – devoid of smoke and mirrors. Positively uplifting.
