Volunteer Call!

It’s just about time for the 45th annual Canmore Folk Music Festival! Our army of over 600 volunteers brings you the great experience you’ve become accustomed to every year. We plan to do the same thing this year. However, we need a few more hands on deck. We’re looking for a few more volunteers across a variety of areas as well as a coordinator to run our traffic team.

Traffic Coordinator Details

The Canmore Folk Music Festival is seeking a coordinator for the Traffic Control team. You will be in charge of a team that manages the 5th street roadblocks during the festival. Additionally, your team manages parking for staff, key coordinators, artists, and vendors. Other responsibilities include:
  • Volunteer recruitment, scheduling, and management 

  • Attending one coordinator meeting per month before the festival (2-3hrs)

  • Meeting with the Town of Canmore Road Department to coordinate barriers and signage 

  • Managing the use of golf carts for the onsite moving of miscellaneous items

  • Preparing reports post-festival 

Time commitment: 8-10 hours a month 

This position is perfect for someone who is a natural leader looking to take on extra responsibility to ensure this area runs smoothly over the festival weekend. Coordinators will receive multiple benefits, which will be discussed throughout the process. Available Volunteer Positions

  • Environment: Help our festival with its mission toward zero waste
  • Pub: Volunteer at the Pub Stage at the Minor’s Union hall, sell tickets and refreshments
  • Instrument Storage: Help manages instruments backstage
  • Security: Control access to festival grounds and maintain a safe environment
  • Site: Work before and after the festival to build/tear down the site
  • Traffic: Direct traffic and parking
  • Transportation: (Drivers Abstract (no cost) and a valid Class 5 Driver’s License Required): Drive performers to/from the airport, their accommodations, and the festival grounds

As a volunteer, you will receive:

  • weekend pass for the festival

  • A volunteer T-shirt that must be worn while you are on shift

  • Access to backstage snacks and beverages

  • A private wee-hour party for volunteers following the main stage concerts on Sunday and Monday night
