We’re gearing up for a different summer than we’re used to, to say the least. But that doesn’t mean that we can’t keep old traditions alive.

While the Canmore Folk Music Festival has been a huge part of summer in the Bow Valley for 42 years now, we made the tough decision to press pause in 2020 for the health and safety of our folkies and our community.

While we won’t have the same festival we all know and love, we vow to enjoy music with you this summer. As a tribute to the Canmore Folk Fest community near and far, we’ve decided to commemorate what we’re calling “the great paws” in the only way we know how: with an adorable festival t-shirt designed by local graphic designer Margo Petroff and printed by a local print shop, Canmore Shirt Smiths.

Even without a festival, we wanted to put together a little something to remember the 2020 year. It’s been a wild ride, but we’ve watched artists, organizations, small businesses, and communities show such agility and resilience that we think it’s absolutely worth celebrating.

“The great paws” is a reminder that while the world was on pause, the love and support between artists, neighbours, and entire towns sure wasn’t.

Here’s what you need to know. This capsule collection of t-shirts will be available for purchase between June 10 and June 24, 2020, and we are aiming to have them delivered out by August long weekend.
